Joseph E. Krull is an Assurance Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). He is engaged in major security and compliance projects and initiatives. Mr. Krull has been a security professional for more than 35 years, previously serving as a security executive for Accenture Technology Consulting. Prior to joining Accenture in 2005, he was a Chief Security Officer for Fortune 500/Global 1000 companies, an independent security consultant and a senior intelligence and security officer for the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency at American embassies overseas. He has worked in more than 100 countries and is a frequent public speaker on security and privacy matters. Mr. Krull holds multiple international security and audit certifications and represents PwC in the Cloud Security Alliance. In 2006 he was inducted into the Institute of Information Security Professionals in London.

Corporations and organizations of all sizes are deploying a wide range of mobile devices including laptop computers, tablet computers and smart phones. Some organizations are also now allowing personally owned devices to connect to their data networks. These devices contribute to increased mobility and efficiency for employees, but also pose significant risks related to data security and privacy. New applications and uses for the devices have also changed the way that risk is viewed from both the organization’s and employee’s perspective. This presentation will examine some of the top threats associated with mobile devices and some recommended ways to reduce risk through a comprehensive deployment plan across all phases of the device’s useful life.
