Speaks at ID WORLD on EU Commission Priorities

Mariusz Grajek’s professional experience combines three areas: IT, finance and journalism. In the area of IT his main focus is information security and cryptography. In the world of finance his experience is in investment banking, securities trading and clearing systems, while in journalism he focuses on both of the above.

Currently in Poland’s Ministry of Interior (Deputy Director of IT Projects Center), Dr. Grajek manages the country’s strategic IT projects, including the new Polish ID card, emergency response systems, the governmental telecommunications network and and a number of EU-related projects (SIS, VIS, IT systems for Polish Presidency in the EU Council).

“Pl.ID – NATIONAL ID CARD OR A MULTIFUNCTIONAL ELCTRONIC CITIZEN’S CONVENIENCE CARD?”

The presentation will cover pl.ID, a new Polish ID card, due to be launched on July 1st, 2013.Analysis of the card shall be divided into three sections, outlining the functionalities and applications in the public sector, private sector and the future/planned functionality extensions. Special attention shall be paid to the interoperability issues, in particular German-Polish cooperation in the field of ID documents, including the pilot projects provided for in the agreement to be signed on November 17th.

The new Polish ID card shall include functionalities permitting its use in both the private and public sector and along with the ID function eHealth card functionality. will also be included Its open character shall permit future functionality extensions. Its combination of technical features shall approach the new limits in the field of ID card technologies and its introduction shall require considerable remodeling and expansion of Poland’s public administration IT systems.
