Michiel van der Veen is Chief Executive Officer of GenKey. In 2008, Michiel van der Veen is founder of priv-ID B.V. as a spin-off from Philips with a first round venture capital investment. To accelerate the further growth of the company, in 2011 he successfully concluded the merger between priv-ID and GenKey and became the CEO of GenKey Group. With the merger, GenKey is now the world market leader for providing Privacy Enhancing Technology for biometric solutions.
Mr. van der Veen has a background from Royal Philips Electronics which he joined in 2000. Under his distinct leadership, his team developed the world standard for Privacy Enhancing Technology (PET) in biometric, for which he received in 2007 the Philips distinguished employee award.
“BIOMETRICS PAYMENT – A CASE STUDY IN FRANCE”
The use of biometrics in the payment sector is increasing. In various initiatives worldwide biometric payment systems are being installed. GenKey is involved in a large scale payment project in France. The project is initiated by the major banks and retailers and has the aim to deploy EMV standardized payment cards with biometric functionality. In this presentation we will provide the background of this project, requirements and the business model. Furthermore we show how specific Match-on-Card is used to facilitate a multimodal solution: i.e. one standard match-on-card algorithm is used for biometric matching based on fingerprint, vein or other biometric modalities
