Rainer Rettig is the President of ARE CON, a sales and consulting company focused on serving the ID-Market. Previously, Mr. Rettig, acted as Managing Director of Novacard Informationssysteme GmbH and Business Segment Manager Government for ASSA ABLOY Identification Technologies (ITG). In this position, he was responsible for growing ITG’s business in the area of governmental projects involving RFID technology, such as electronic passports and e-visas, e-driver’s licences and e-health. Rainer Rettig began his career with Hoechst AG, and subsequently worked for VKW Staufen Folien and at PAV Card as Head of sales. He then joined ACG Identification Technologies in 1998 and was involved in a variety of functions such as purchasing, product management, operations and sales. Most recently, he served as ACG’s Director Business Unit Secure ID. He holds an engineering degree from the university of applied sciences of Darmstadt.

Silk screen inks have been traditionally developed as solvent based systems. Good properties and easy processing were traded against reduced yield and environmental problems.
A new generation of inks does not only overcome ecological challenges in printing, but allows avoiding emissions on other parts of the value chain as well. In combination with new security pigments it makes simple screen printing an extremely interesting high value-add process with low investments required.
This new generation of UV inks has been developed completely solvent free, eliminating VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) emission to the atmosphere and, as a consequence eliminate C02 emissions linked to VOC emission treatment. Easy laminating of metallic inks with uncoated overlay avoids additional costs and additional VOC emission linked to the overlay coating process.
Thanks to the new resin structure of the 100% UV silk screen inks, a new generation of effects could be realized on top of traditional metallic. New interference effects, liquid crystal and pearlescent pigments can be applied and can be upgraded by a laser detectable security pigment.
