Roberto Tunioli

CEO – Datalogic

Speaks at ID WORLD on The Future of Identification

Roberto Tunioli is the Vice President and CEO of Datalogic Spa, third world producer and leader in Europe for bar code readers, data collection mobile computers, and RFID technology systems. After numerous experiences in the financial world working for leading banking and insurance companies, Roberto Tunioli decided to join forces with Datalogic in 1988 as Financial Director, then went on to become General Manager in 1993. Since 1995 he has held the position of CEO within the company.

“Future of Data Collection: evolution or revolution?”

Data Collection is still a relatively young industry, nevertheless it is fully intertwined with our daily life: almost every single event of our daily experience is somehow related to data collection. Whenever we shop or travel, even whenever we undergo a medical examination or therapy, data collection speeds up processes, increases transaction reliability and guarantees the proper tracking. At the end of the day, it improves the customer’s experience and satisfaction while enhancing overall supply chain efficiency.

In a phrase, data collection is the link between the physical world and its electronic counterpart. It is the real gateway towards the fully digital era.

From this simple statement, Roberto Tunioli depicts the current and perspective trends of the industry. Whether it is evolution or revolution, data collection still reserves areas of strong growth, outside the “typical” industries where it is already a must to compete: government services, citizen relationship management, healthcare, tourism.
