“FUTURE TRENDS – THE USE OF SMART MOBILE PHONES IN THE AUTO ID INDUSTRY”

The dynamic industry of mobile phones is moving ahead rapidly with each passing year bringing ease of use, customization of settings, increased processing power, memory and additional features.

Simultaneously the auto ID industry has focussed itself to provide citizen centric applications with value added services across geographically dispersed locations; including citizen enrolment/registration, smart card issuance, identity management, health insurance, poverty alleviation/ income support programs, money transaction schemes, branchless banking, etc to name a few. All these schemes for cross industry applications require accurate and easy data acquisition including biometric enrolment.

Will the phone of the future become a cost effective, accurate and efficient instrument for data acquisition for all citizen centric applications?
