"Privacy Evolution, Not Revolution"
I. VeriChip – world's first, FDA-cleared, implantable RFID microchip for humans
II. History of microchips used for identification in the animal world and how they evolved for use in the human world
III. Privacy backlash – product maligned as invasive, became a target for privacy rights advocates; subject to malicious assaults by CASPIAN, etc.
IV. Result – VeriChip Corp. forced to sell Xmark division; defamatory attacks led to dormant stage of the company
V. Wrong Result – VeriChip founded on strong privacy policy, voluntary use of product, etc.
VI. VeriChip's Projects to protect Alzheimer's patients, diabetics and develop a glucose-sensing microchip
VII. Privacy – VeriChip actually enhances one's privacy - no one can steal your chip vs. other forms of identification like an identification card
VIII. What's next? Looking beyond patient identification to diagnostic and sensor applications; focus on underlying personal health record and critical personal financial data
IX. Summary – When will the patient's/consumer's wishes balance with the public's view on privacy? It's up to VeriChip as a leader in the auto ID space to find that out. Privacy evolution – not revolution! |
