VeriChip Corporation’s VeriMed™ Patient Identification System consists of an implantable microchip for people to be cleared by the FDA for medical use, a hand-held radio frequency identification (RFID) scanner, and a secure patient database. The system helps rapidly identify participating patients and provides access to their health and medical records information in an emergency situation.

Following a patent awarded in October 2006 for an implantable glucose-sensing microchip, our recent development project for an implantable glucose sensor is a first step in evolving our business from implantable radio frequency identification devices for identification and medical records retrieval to devices that can treat, diagnose and aid in patient care.
